new insights from this week’s class discussion?

February 26, 2011 at 6:11 +00:00Feb (DIGM classes)

I learned a lot about the classes that I should take and how I should get myself involved more in the digital media fields in this week’s class.  The Alumni that came to class were very interesting.  I learned which classes that I should take.  I now know that I need to get into the Computer Programming I  class 171.  There I can learn the C++ program so I can better work with my peers and help improve my knowledge of computer programing.  I also learned that Sidgraph and IGDA are very important organisations for Digital Media majors and workers to be involved in.  You can learn new things from the upperclassmen and it helps you to network so when you are looking for a job, you have friends in the field.   There are so many new opportunities in the digital media field, you might think that you will go into one field and later go into another and be just as happy.

Masters or Minors

February 12, 2011 at 6:11 +00:00Feb (DIGM classes)

College has many options when you are looking for a degree.  They have all different types of Bachelor’s dregees, Minors and Masters.  I’m very interested in taking either a Masters or also a Minor to further my education.  I want to explore more in the Digital Media field and in the Fine Arts fields.  So do I want to take a Masters or a Minor?  Right now, as much as I want to take a Minor in Fine Arts, I feel that I want to take a Master of Digital Media more if I could possibly be selected for it.  The Masters will help me improve my art and give me more opportunities to learn my trade.  The Master will give me so many new classes that will teach me more things.  The Minor would also help me in my art.  The better I am at drawing real life then the easier the proportions in my animations will come.  I think that all digital media majors should take art classes to improve their perspective and form.  I want to improve my color use as well so I want to take some painting classes.  I want to jump on the opportunity of a Masters but the idea of a Minor is also looking very pleasing.

College classes

January 27, 2011 at 6:11 +00:00Jan (Uncategorized)

I am really looking forward to all of my digital media classes.  But, I’m mostly looking forward to Programming Concepts with 3D Animation, Computer Graphic Imagery, Computer Animation I, Character Animation I, Overview of Computer Gaming, and Game Development: Foundations.  This is only just to name a few! The one thing that I would like the Digital media program to do is list the names of the Pre-Requisites and their descriptions. This way students would know more about the classes that they have to take to get into another class.

Me in 10 years?

January 13, 2011 at 6:11 +00:00Jan (Uncategorized)

Where do you see yourself in 10 years?  Each person has a different dream of where they will end up.  I have always wanted to do something in an art field, which lead me to the wonders of digital media.  When I first started walking down this path I wanted to be an animator for a big company.  Now through my findings, I have determined that I want to either still be an animator or a video game designer.  Both of these ideas really interest me, so I don’t know if I want to do one or the other, or if I want to do both.  Though right now I want to do both.

Analog In, Digital Out

January 9, 2011 at 6:11 +00:00Jan (Uncategorized)

The book “Analog In, Digital Out” by Brendan Dawes was full of different creative ideas about digital media and technology.  Dawes tells the reader about his creative outbursts  as he goes through different events and life.  This book is not a textbook full of big words, it’s just a starting point of creative ideas that will make you look around the world of analog and digital in a new way and hopefully inspire you.  For example, Dawes wants to create a way to let him know if a person has gone to his website, so he designs a doorbell that gets hooked into Dawes laptop and chimes when a person visits his web page.  Dawes uses other analog objects to create or inspire digital ideas like, play-doh to control movies, books that inspire a web page design, or useing an atari game as a USB hub.  My presonal favorite was when Dawes created a series of visual interpretation of music involving letters and different colored circles using as he says”a total hacked-together piece of code, but you know what? It works!”  People should look out and observe the world. You never know what you might find and be inspired from.
