College classes

January 27, 2011 at 6:11 +00:00Jan (Uncategorized)

I am really looking forward to all of my digital media classes.  But, I’m mostly looking forward to Programming Concepts with 3D Animation, Computer Graphic Imagery, Computer Animation I, Character Animation I, Overview of Computer Gaming, and Game Development: Foundations.  This is only just to name a few! The one thing that I would like the Digital media program to do is list the names of the Pre-Requisites and their descriptions. This way students would know more about the classes that they have to take to get into another class.

Me in 10 years?

January 13, 2011 at 6:11 +00:00Jan (Uncategorized)

Where do you see yourself in 10 years?  Each person has a different dream of where they will end up.  I have always wanted to do something in an art field, which lead me to the wonders of digital media.  When I first started walking down this path I wanted to be an animator for a big company.  Now through my findings, I have determined that I want to either still be an animator or a video game designer.  Both of these ideas really interest me, so I don’t know if I want to do one or the other, or if I want to do both.  Though right now I want to do both.

Analog In, Digital Out

January 9, 2011 at 6:11 +00:00Jan (Uncategorized)

The book “Analog In, Digital Out” by Brendan Dawes was full of different creative ideas about digital media and technology.  Dawes tells the reader about his creative outbursts  as he goes through different events and life.  This book is not a textbook full of big words, it’s just a starting point of creative ideas that will make you look around the world of analog and digital in a new way and hopefully inspire you.  For example, Dawes wants to create a way to let him know if a person has gone to his website, so he designs a doorbell that gets hooked into Dawes laptop and chimes when a person visits his web page.  Dawes uses other analog objects to create or inspire digital ideas like, play-doh to control movies, books that inspire a web page design, or useing an atari game as a USB hub.  My presonal favorite was when Dawes created a series of visual interpretation of music involving letters and different colored circles using as he says”a total hacked-together piece of code, but you know what? It works!”  People should look out and observe the world. You never know what you might find and be inspired from.
